Last weekend we had excellent visibility with climbs to 12,000' with the Cirrus and Kestrel making short cross country flights.
Solo at sixteen.
Kevin Pickford and a few enthusiastic members sent MArcel solo on his sixteenth birthday.
Our cable chose the big day to decide it was tired and there were two cable breaks in a row, before he got in the air. Neil Viljoen took a launch with him - then of he went for two quick circuits.
He brought GSI back in useable format, and was rewarded with a cooling bucket of water from Kevin, and a meal at the local food place.
Look for a presentation with pictures in the downloads section.
Kevin Pickford celebrated his 60th Birthday in characteristic form - at the airfield.
Club Chairman John Herbert breaks out the champagne for Kevin. Who had not yet worked out quite why we had such a good turnout. It's hard getting old...
In honour of this event the majority of the members made an effort to attend and we had a good days flying under 5/8 of woolly cumulous. Wayne even took the Kestrel 19 for a little cross country jaunt.
We ended the day with ritual pyrolosis of protein (a braai/barbeque) at the clubhouse with much "well mannered frivolity" to quote Ms Rowling.
There are more pictures in the gallery - in the Operations section.
Thanks to all who attended, and contributed.

Welcome to WhisperingWings
We are located just to the North of Parys. A small and scenic town situated on the banks of the Vaal river in the Free State Province.
We fly most weekends, primarily on Sundays. Daily briefing is 10:00 at the hangar on flying days.
WhisperingWings is a relaxed and informal club, where we
concentrate on social flying and training. We have a large hangar, and
share the clubhouse facilities on the municiapl airfield with the
Parys Flying Club.
